UMPIRING NEWS
January 2010
Welcome to the New Year!
URGENT-ENGLAND NETBALL HAS WITHDRAWN RECOGNITION OF INTERMEDIATE & PRELIMINARY UMPIRE STATUS
Effective 1 January 2010, England Netball has withdrawn recognition of the Intermediate and Preliminary umpiring awards. This decision was communicated in late December and we have asked for its implementation to be deferred, in view of the short notice: we await a definitive response. In the meantime, Intermediate and Preliminary umpires can continue to umpire in Essex Met Leagues, but should check if they umpire elsewhere, as other leagues’ Rules may not include Intermediate/Preliminary qualifications. Preliminary umpires should also be aware that their insurance level is reduced from Gold to Silver.
I have contacted all Intermediate/Preliminary umpires whose details have been submitted to me, but if anyone has any queries about these changes, please contact me.
RULES SEMINAR
A reminder that all umpires must have attended a “New” Rules seminar (in Essex Met or elsewhere) to be eligible to umpire in Essex Met and clubs are reminded to check that their umpires are eligible. If any umpire has not attended a “New” Rules seminar and would like to attend a Rules seminar, please let me know.
