Essex Met Netball – 2022/2023 Season:
Coaching and Development Report
Junior Development-
*Delivered a Bee Netball Club programme at John Bramston Primary School, LBR
*England vs Jamaica Test Series – 25 children from Essex Met’s Bee Clubs (Leyton NC, Manor NC and John Bramston Primary School) represented the County at the Copper Box Arena on Sunday 15th Jan 2023 as Mascots. The children walked on with the Roses and took part in half-time activation and received a tour
of the arena.
*Essex Met continues to support its Trailblazer clubs and Core Inclusive Club
*A May Netball Camp Half Term Programme offered in Newham 30th May and 1st June
*Provided support to the Newham Primary Schools Netball competition
Coaching | Continuous Education
* 36 Learners have gained their UK Coaching Safeguarding and Child Protection certificate and are up to
date on Child Protection Laws and Safeguarding practices within sport
* 36 coaches have gained their Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid
* 156 number of hours spent on learning by Essex Met coaches developing their knowledge to deliver safe netball
*Bespoke Safeguarding and Child Protection courses have been organised for Woodford Warriors NC
*Essex Met has provided support to Cambridgeshire County Netball Association through the delivery of 3x UK Coaching’s Safeguarding and Child Protection courses
Coaching – Newly Qualified Coaches
*EM has 20 new Level 2 coaches
Coaching – Mentoring
*3 newly qualified level 2 coaches have accessed the EM UKCC Portfolio coach mentoring programme.
Providing support to the coaches to complete their portfolio of work and gain their qualification
Coaching – Bursary –
* £270 has been awarded to coaches applying for the EM bursary to complete their UKCC coaching
qualification
*£135 has been awarded to coaches to compete the Firstaid qualification
* Over £450 has been leveraged to support coaches and volunteers to complete the Firstaid qualification
The Essex Met coaching bursary continues to be available to individuals and clubs who meet the funding
criteria. Essex Met will pay a percentage towards coaches attending and completing their UKCC Level 1,2
and 3 coaching award and Walking Netball coaching course.
