County Chair’s Report

Essex Metropolitan Netball League

County Chair
I start my report by thanking all those of you that managed to fulfil all your League games
especially if you had to rearrange some of them.
Quite a few matches had to be changed due to clashes of fixtures with the Regional League.
Hopefully, next season will be a lot easier date wise.
Our Junior League is thriving and we even had to turn a couple of teams away this season
because we were full. As the years come and go and as those young players age I hope
they will follow up by playing in our Senior League and enjoy the competition.
Your committee has been working hard again this season so please read the officers reports
carefully they deserve your support.
Lots of things have been going on, apart from the playing side, courses for umpires and
testing leading to many successes.
Proud that we introduced the Essex Met Drop Box this season to get some ideas from you
as to how we can improve your experiences playing or umpiring or even volunteering in
Essex Met. Lots of suggestions came in and this was also shared with Redbridge as to
whether any of the suggestions could work. The follow up was a meeting at Redbridge with
club members to go through the proposals. Although a few clubs attended (thank you) It
would have been nice to see more of you there.
World Netball Cup this year is in Cape Town South Africa – is anyone going? Television will
be showing all matches I am told.
Finally, you will see a number of vacancies on the Committee – one of which has given many
many years of her free time and I personally want to thank Maggie Fuller for her commitment
and for doing a fantastic job in keeping our books healthy.
In fact anyone that gives up their free time deserves all the support they can get from the membership. We cannot survive without volunteers.
Have a good summer and see you in the 2023/24 season.
